Alcoholic Drinks: Excise Duties

Question to the HM Treasury:
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, if he will make an assessment of the potential merits of introducing a distinct classification in the taxation system for alcoholic drinks created by fermenting honey with water.

The Government is committed to review our alcohol duty structures. Further announcements about the review will be made in due course. Any changes will be considered by the Chancellor and announced at fiscal events.
