Question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy:

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, whether the Government plans for the UK to remain in the internal energy market after the UK leaves the EU.

This question was answered on 12th September 2017

The Government is currently considering all aspects of its future relationship with the EU, including the arrangements for trading energy.

As my Rt Hon Friend the Secretary of State has told the House there are great advantages in having continued access to free markets. Energy is an area in which there is strong alignment of interests between the UK and EU.

Our priority is maintaining affordable, clean and secure energy supplies for businesses and households.
