Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, if he will make an assessment with Cabinet colleagues of trends in the nutritional value of food consumed by people during the cost of living crisis.
The Office for Health Improvement and Disparities monitors the available data on population diets and nutrient intakes, including through the National Diet and Nutrition Survey. The impact of increasing food prices and changes in food purchasing behaviour on population health and nutrition will not be known for some time, due to the time taken for the collection and analysis of sufficient data.
