Unexplained Wealth Orders

Question to the Home Office:
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how many unexplained wealth orders have been sought in each financial year since 2014.

Since implementation in the Criminal Finances Act 2017, unexplained wealth orders (UWOs) were sought in relation to four cases:
Three UWOs were obtained in relation to one case 2017/18
Five UWOs were obtained in relation to three cases in 2019/20 (three UWOs in relation to one case were discharged on appeal)
The annual asset recovery statistical bulletin contains UWO statistics. The next statistical bulletin will be published this month (September 2020).
