My Rt. Hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy took up his role on 25 October and will engage with my Rt. Hon. Friend Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer as a priority, to consider the best way to work together to secure the best outcomes for our steel industry.

The Government is working with industry on its transition to a low carbon future. Our ongoing support for the sector’s low-carbon development includes access to over £1 billion to support industry with energy efficiency, decarbonisation, low carbon infrastructure and research and development. This is in addition to the £780m we have provided the steel sector since 2013 to help with energy costs.
