Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what steps he will take to ensure the full funding of a workforce plan for the NHS.

In January 2022 the Department commissioned NHS England to develop a long-term workforce plan. The plan will build on the foundations of the NHS People Plan. The plan is currently being developed by NHS England they are due to complete this work by the end of 2022. The key conclusions will be shared in due course.

The work of the long-term workforce plan will be used to inform future government work on how to best meet the needs of patients and the NHS workforce. Funding plans beyond the current Spending Review period will be subject to the outcome of future Spending Reviews.
