Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what plans the Government has to remove the bar on men who have sex with men seeking to donate blood.
This question was answered on 26th April 2017
The Advisory Committee on the Safety of Blood Tissues and Organs is currently reviewing blood donor selection criteria, including the deferral period for men who have sex with men. The review is on track to be completed by summer 2017.
