Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, how many people have been diagnosed with encephalitis in each year since 2010.

Acute encephalitis is a notifiable disease but given most cases are mild, in practice the majority of cases are not reported. The numbers reported for England and Wales in 2010-15 are available to view here:
