Question to the Department for International Trade:

To ask the Secretary of State for International Trade, whether his plans for World Trade Organisation schedule liberalisation include the agriculture and food production industry; and what discussions he has had with the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs on commissioning an assessment of the effects of that liberalisation on UK farmers.

As my Rt hon Friend the Secretary of State for International Trade made clear in his Written Ministerial Statement on 5 December 2016, HCWS316, we will seek to replicate our commitments at the World Trade Organisation as we leave the EU. This Department is working closely with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and the devolved administrations to ensure that UK farmers face a smooth transition as we leave the EU.
