South Wales Railway Line: Electrification

Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what recent discussions he has with the Secretary of State for Wales on the decision to not electrify the railway line between Cardiff and Swansea.

The Secretary of State has regular discussions on a variety of matters with the Secretary of State for Wales as well as other stakeholders in Wales. I note that new IEP trains will be introduced on mainline services to Cardiff and Swansea from this autumn.
