Question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy:

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, what assessment he has made of the practicability of switching from pre-pay to direct debit energy suppliers.

Existing prepayment meter customers who are not repaying a debt can transfer onto a credit payment method, such as direct debit with their existing or a new supplier – in this case the prepayment meter is then replaced with a standard credit meter.
