Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, pursuant to the Answer of 25 October 2021 to Question 59787, Electric Vehicles: Buses, how many electric buses are in service in Newcastle as a result of that funding.

Nine electric buses are currently in service on Go North East’s Newcastle and Gateshead services. These buses were part funded by £1,330,005 in funding from the Ultra Low Emission Bus Scheme.

In March 2021, the Department awarded £1,270,005 in funding from the Ultra Low Emission Bus Scheme to Go North East for a further nine electric buses. These buses are expected to enter service on Go North East’s services in Newcastle and Gateshead in 2022.
