Greece: Refugees

Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what representations the Government made to the Government of Greece on the conduct of the Hellenic coastguard in the Aegean Sea in relation to international humanitarian, human rights and refugee law.

The Greek authorities are under considerable pressure, and the UK Government remains committed to supporting Greece's efforts to manage migration effectively. Greece has the right to control its borders but we urge all sides?to?uphold?international?human rights standards in respect?of the migrants and?to avoid any actions that may endanger human life.
