Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what safeguards his Department has in place to ensure that local authorities are planning and funding palliative care for children and young people; and if he will make a statement.

Local authorities are not commissioners of children’s palliative health care, but would have a role in providing social care support, and any appropriate educational support that was assessed as needed by a child with a life-limiting condition.
