Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what assessment he has made of the reliability of the Class 37 locomotives that run between Barrow and Preston; and how many journeys were delayed or cancelled in (a) 2016 and (b) 2015 due to engine failure.

This is an operational matter for the train operator. The Class 37 train is due to be replaced from the Northern fleet by the end of 2019.
