Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, what assessment she has made of the implications for her policies of the decision by the Belarusian government to expel the French Ambassador; and if the Government will express its solidarity with the French government.

The UK has expressed its solidarity with our French partners, following the Belarusian authorities' unilateral decision to withdraw the accreditation granted to the French Ambassador on 31 August 2020. This is the latest in a series of steps taken against the diplomatic community in Belarus. The UK will continue to work alongside our international partners in support of the Belarusian people and of a lasting solution to the political crisis.
