Question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy:

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, what assessment he has made of the implications for the Government's policies of the Competition and Markets Authority decision to hold an inquiry into the takeover of Booker by Tesco.

Investigations into takeovers are a matter for the Competition and Markets Authority, which are carried out under its statutory powers under the Enterprise Act 2002.
