The Department for Education has not conducted specific research on the reasons for exclusions of children from early years settings.

The Department collects data on permanent and fixed-period exclusions from state-funded primary, state-funded secondary and special schools, including nurseries attached to these schools, for children aged four and under. The most recent National Statistics can be found at: https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/permanent-and-fixed-period-exclusions-in-england-2014-to-2015. The Department does not collect data on exclusions in other early years settings.
