Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, what recent discussions she has had with the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo and international partners on the protection and rebuilding of Christian religious sites in Uvira following the case filed at the East African Court of Justice in May 2026.

We are aware of this case. However, given these are private legal proceedings and they remain ongoing, it would not be appropriate to comment. The UK is committed to championing freedom of religion or belief for all. No one should live in fear, or suffer discrimination and violence, because of their beliefs.
