Question to the HM Treasury:
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, with reference to the announcement of £1 billion of new resource and capital spending for Northern Ireland, what assessment he has made of the need for new capital spending in Wales.
I and my officials engage on a regular basis with the Scottish and Welsh Governments on their funding settlements. The New Decade, New Approach financial agreement recognises the unique circumstances faced in Northern Ireland. The Scottish and Welsh Governments will both benefit from Barnett consequentials as a result of the decisions that Chancellor will take on devolved matters in England at the Budget and Comprehensive Spending Review.
