The Future Combat Air System programme is targeting an in-service date of 2035 and is exploring concepts for a next generation combat air system to operate into the second half of the century. The whole-life costs will be contingent upon the role that international partners take and key programme choices informed by the Concept and Assessment phase, which is currently underway and is due to complete in 2025.
