Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, for what reasons HS2 Ltd is challenging the classification of the additional woods to be added to the ancient woodland inventory; and if he will make a statement.
This question was answered on 7th July 2015
HS2 Ltd has not challenged the classification of additional woodlands. HS2 Ltd have provided survey information and heritage information assessments of all of the additional ancient woodlands suggested to Natural England by the Woodland Trust and other stakeholders. This has enabled Natural England to come to their own informed conclusions about which ancient woodlands should be added to the inventory.
