Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, how many companies have received fines under the Food Information Regulations 2014 for non-disclosure or provision of incorrect information on the presence of allergens in food in each year since 2014.
The Food Standard Agency has been notified of 20 successful prosecutions related to nine businesses since 2016, which is shown in the following table:
Year | Number of offences | Number of businesses |
2016 | 2 | 2 |
2017 | 8 | 1 |
2018 | 4 | 3 |
2019 | 6 | 3 |
Data prior to 2016 is not held centrally in the format requested as individual local authorities, as the bodies responsible for taking enforcement action in relation to food law offences, submitted this information on a voluntary basis.
