Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what recent discussions he has had with his Russian counterpart on the persecution of LGBT people in (a) Chechnya and (b) other parts of Russia.

The Foreign Secretary co-signed, a letter to Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov on 28 April, urging his Government to investigate reports of persecution of LGBT people, ensure the safety of activists and journalist investigating abuse, and protect the LGBT community. We continue to raise our concerns directly with the Russian Government.
