Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, pursuant to the Answer of 4 July 2016 to Question 41437, what his policy is on establishing a statutory independent body representing bus users to complement the work of non-statutory non-profit organisations, such as Bus Users UK.

The Independent body Bus Users UK, have effective procedures in place to promote better standards and ensure passengers’ needs are met. The Bus Appeals Body also provide an independent means of reviewing bus passengers’ complaints where they have not been settled by Bus Users UK.

I believe sufficient mechanisms are in place to ensure operators meet the needs of passengers.
