Bus operators have an obligation to operate their services safely.

The regulatory framework in which local bus services currently operate covers a wide range of passenger safety issues including accessibility for disabled passengers and drivers’ competence and the Traffic Commissioners have the power to take action against bus operators who breach safety standards, including revoking an operator’s licence.
