Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, whether the commissioned Hitachi trains intended for the Great Western Line are able to run on both diesel and electricity.

The commissioned Hitachi trains for the Great Western line will have two configurations, one running on electric power and a second bi-mode capable of running on either diesel or electric power.
