Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what steps the she is taking to help improve the (a) reliability and (b) resilience of Thameslink services on the Wimbledon Loop.

Now that Greater Thameslink Railway (which operates Thameslink services) is in the public sector, they and DfT Operator will be working hard to improve reliability and resilience of services on the Wimbledon loop. Recruiting additional Thameslink drivers has contributed to a significant reduction in cancellations caused by traincrew unavailability on the route this year compared with the equivalent period in 2025. Timetable changes from December 2026 are also intended to provide a more robust service that can recover more effectively from disruption.
