Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, which countries that are allies of the UK are not governed through some form of parliamentary democracy.
Allies, in a strict legal sense, are those states with whom the UK has a Treaty-based commitment to militarily assist each other in the event of an armed attack. As such I can confirm that all of the UK’s allies are governed by forms of parliamentary or other representative democracy.
