The Energy Secretary fully assessed the potential impact of fossil fuel production from the Jackdaw gas field on net zero carbon goals in making her decision on whether to agree to the grant of consent for the Jackdaw project. The Energy Secretary concluded that the project’s emissions would not materially affect the UK’s ability to meet its legally binding limits on carbon emissions and achieve net zero by 2050. The reasons for the decision have been published on GOV.UK.
