Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, whether the National Shipbuilding Office has powers to monitor the implementation of (a) initial and (b) full business case commitments by contractors to utilise a specific proportion of UK sourced steel for shipbuilding procurement programmes.

The National Shipbuilding Office (NSO) may monitor and challenge such matters as British steel sourcing, if appropriate, but cannot mandate its use.
