The Information Commissioner has a range of powers to address failures to comply with Subject Access Requests, including enforcement notices and monetary penalties. Individuals may also seek a court order requiring compliance. The Government has no current plans to change these arrangements but keeps the effectiveness of the data protection framework under review.
