While Defra recognises concerns associated with rodenticides, and has welcomed recent changes restricting their use, policy responsibility for rodenticides lies with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the Government’s animal welfare strategy, published in December 2025, did not include any commitment to ban them.
