Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, with reference to paragraph 2.18 of the National Audit Office's report entitled Resilience of the food supply chain to disruptions, published on 4 September 2026, what steps her Department is taking to assess the applicability of resilience measures used in other Critical National Infrastructure sectors to the food system.

Defra works with the Cabinet Office and other lead Government departments across Critical National Infrastructure and resilience structures to identify lessons from other sectors and assess what is relevant to the food system. This could include considering approaches to identifying critical national infrastructure, understanding sector dependencies and strengthening preparedness to disruptions.
