Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, how many temporary speed restrictions were in place on the national rail network on 15 March (a) 2016, (b) 2015, (c) 2014 and (d) 2013.

The number of temporary speed restrictions in place on the national rail network for the dates requested, based on the weekly average during the rail period containing 15^th March each year, is as follows:

(a) 2016 – 374

(b) 2015 – 226

(c) 2014 – 325

(d) 2013 – 270
