Question to the Cabinet Office:

To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, pursuant to the Answer of 11 February 2016 to Question 26361, how many officials work in the secretariat in the Cabinet Office that deals with all European matters; to whom such officials report; and what such officials' involvement will be in drawing up contingency plans in the event of a UK exit from the EU.

The secretariat in Cabinet Office that deals with all European matters reports to the Prime Minister's Adviser on European and Global Issues. Information on Cabinet Office staff and salaries is on GOV.UK and can be found at: https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/cabinet-office-structure-charts

The Government's position, as set out by the Prime Minister to the House on 22 February, is that the UK will be stronger, safer and better off remaining in a reformed EU. The civil service is working to support the Government’s position.
