Question to the Department for Work and Pensions:

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, whether he will estimate how many people who would otherwise be eligible for universal credit who would not be so eligible if the child element was reduced in real terms to the 2003-04 level of the child element of child tax credit.

It is not possible to provide estimates around a scenario that does not reflect current policy or plans.

Once fully rolled out Universal Credit will mean around 3.2 million households will be better off by an average of £178 a month.
