HMG has made significant progress in advancing the Home Defence Programme since its inception in 2024 and continues to develop civilian-military preparedness. As announced in July, the programme is leading the regeneration of the Government War Book and we will be holding the largest home defence exercise in recent UK history next year. I am driving forward this work at pace in the Cabinet Office, working with colleagues in the Ministry of Defence.
