The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (now DCMS) met the Centre for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) on 5 September 2024 to discuss how the online environment may have contributed to the post-Southport disorder.

The department also met CCDH on 23 February 2026, to discuss the monetisation of harmful content online.

DCMS continues to engage with a range of civil society organisations to support the development of online harms policy.
