The Cabinet Office oversaw two cross-system National Exercises within this period – more than in 14 years of successive Conservative governments. Exercise PEGASUS on pandemic preparedness was conducted in three primary phases in September and October 2025 helping to shape this government’s new Pandemic Preparedness Strategy. A classified cross-system exercise was also conducted in 2026. Findings from PEGASUS will be made public by winter 2026. Findings from the cyber resilience exercise will not be made public for national security considerations.
