Question to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, what plans she has to increase citizens' ownership and control of personal data.

The Government announced its intention to bring forward a Data Protection Bill in the Queen's Speech on 21st June. Amongst other legislative changes, the Bill will introduce measures which will strengthen rights and empower individuals to have more control over their personal data including a right to be forgotten when individuals no longer want their data to be processed, provided that there are no legitimate grounds for retaining it.
