Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how many cases of identity fraud have been reported in each of the last 12 months.

The Home Office does not hold this information as identity theft is not a specific criminal offence but a way in which fraud can be enabled.

It is not possible to separately identify identity theft within the various categories of fraud which are reported to the Home Office by the police.
