All asylum and human rights claims from Ugandan nationals are carefully considered on their individual merits in accordance with our international obligations. Each individual assessment is made against the background of the latest available country of origin information and any relevant caselaw.

The Country Policy and Information Note on sexual orientation and gender identity and expression, published in April 2019 and available on the Gov.uk website, points to the difficult environment for LGB persons in Uganda.

We continue to monitor the situation in light of the recent media reports and will provide an update if and when necessary.

Furthermore, decision makers have access to the latest available country information through an on-demand information request service to address particular issues raised in individual claims.
