Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, with reference to the Impact Assessment on Review of language support provided for driving tests, whether the policy change that withdrew the availability of language support from UK driving test candidates was reviewed in January 2019 as indicated on the impact assessment; and if he will make a statement.

Ensuring all drivers have the knowledge, skills and understanding to use our roads safely and responsibly is essential to reducing casualties. Since the 2014 language support change, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has introduced a new practical driving test (in December 2017) and is currently working on the provision of the theory test from the early 2020s.
