Indicative construction programmes are set out in the Environmental Statement submitted to Parliament in the Community Forum Area Volume 2 reports. These programmes will be developed further through the hybrid Bill and detailed design process. Information on the number of construction workers required and pay details for each month during construction can only be fully determined after Royal Assent. The cost will be delivered within the funding envelope for HS2.

For Phase One it is estimated there will be:

14,600 construction jobs

2,200 operations & maintenance jobs

5,480 supply chain jobs

30,000 jobs supported by stations & depots

The figures have been published in the HS2 Phase One Environmental Statement Non-technical summary section 7.10. The document is available at the following link: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/hs2-phase-one-environmental-statement-non-technical-summary
