Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what recent assessment he has made of trends in the number of tests for sexually transmitted infections administered over the last five years; and if he will make a statement.
Local authorities pay for sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing. In England, the total number of STI tests, paid for by local authorities from 2013 to 2017 is given in the following table.
