Question to the Department for Education:

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what steps her Department is taking to encourage schools to promote T Levels, apprenticeships, and technical qualifications.

The department is strengthening careers guidance so all young people understand the full range of high-quality education and training routes available, including apprenticeships, T Levels and other technical pathways.

Schools must provide independent careers guidance and comply with provider access legislation which gives pupils opportunities to hear directly from providers about approved technical education qualifications and apprenticeships. Our statutory guidance is clear that this should be embedded within a progressive careers programme, with information provided at key transition points.

We fund the Careers & Enterprise Company and careers hubs to connect schools with employers and training providers and strengthen awareness of technical pathways. Using local data and insight, careers hubs identify barriers and target support to help more young people move into apprenticeships and technical education.
