Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what discussions he has had with Cabinet colleagues on contingency arrangements for the mass slaughter of livestock in the event that ports are closed if the UK leaves the EU without a deal.

The Government continues to work with industry to help manage economic impacts for the livestock sector in a no deal departure. Contingency options are being developed to respond to potential animal welfare issues on farm and during transport and these have been incorporated into broader Government no deal planning. There are no plans for a mass cull.
