Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what recent discussions he has had with (a) the Hungarian Government and (b) his counterparts in the EU on the future of the Central European University in Budapest.

The Foreign Secretary has not discussed this matter with his Hungarian or EU counterparts. However, both the former Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson, and our Embassy in Budapest have discussed it with the Hungarian Government. If and when we have concerns, we raise them privately with our Hungarian counterparts, as you do with friends and allies.
