The UK is committed to supporting countries achieve the Sustainable Development Goal 6 target of universal access to water and sanitation by 2030. Since 2015, we have supported 40 million people to gain access to clean water and sanitation. We expect to help a total of 60 million people gain access to water and sanitation by 2020.

Access to water, sanitation and hygiene is central to unlocking the potential of individuals, communities and businesses and will continue to be a key part of the UK’s development offer. We will determine the level of funding to water, sanitation and hygiene through future spending reviews.
